Guide for teachers

Start from your Today page, take the register, enter marks and trait ratings, check class results and report cards, share work in the LMS, set and mark assignments, set, publish and follow tests and put their marks on the marks sheet, keep a question bank and make and print papers from it, ask the AI Assistant and see your payslips, on a computer or a phone.

For Class teacher, Subject teacher · Last updated 2026-10-01

Who this guide is for

You teach at the school, either as a Class Teacher responsible for a class or as a Subject Teacher who teaches a subject across classes. The two roles see almost the same screens. The differences in this guide are Trait Scores and Results, which only Class Teachers can open.

Every task works on a computer and on a phone. Where the two differ, the step says what to do on each. Each task has a short video beside its steps; they are all listed, in the order to learn them, under Videos at the end of this guide.

Before you start

Your school creates your login and gives you a temporary password.

  1. Open your school's address and add /app/login, or follow the sign-in link your school gave you. The sign-in page shows your school's name.

  2. Enter your Email address and Password, and select Sign In. You arrive on your Today page (see below).

Signing in

To choose your own password, select Forgot password? on the sign-in page, enter your email and select Send reset code, then type the code from the email and choose a new password. You can also select Sign in with a one-time code to receive a six-digit code by email instead of typing a password.

Find your way around

The pages are the same on every screen; only the way you move between them changes.

On a computer, the menu is down the left side, grouped under headings: ACADEMIC has Pupils, Classes, Timetable and Attendance; ASSESSMENT has Score Entry, Trait Scores and Results; OPERATIONS has the LMS, Assignments and Tests; FINANCE has your payslips. Select a heading to open or close its group. Dashboard, under OVERVIEW, brings you back to your Today page. Along the top of the screen:

  • the search box (Search…, or press Ctrl+K) finds a page or a pupil by name or number;

  • EN and FR switch the app between English and French;

  • the sun or moon button switches between light and dark;

  • your picture or initials, at the top right, opens a menu with Profile and Sign out.

On a tablet, the menu opens from the menu button at the top left.

On a phone, see Use it on your phone below. Lists such as the pupil list are shown as cards instead of tables.

The app follows your device's light or dark setting until you choose otherwise.

The menu on the left

Use it on your phone

You do not need a separate app: the same app runs in your phone's web browser.

  1. In the phone's browser, open your school's address with /app/login added, and sign in as on a computer.

  2. If the phone offers to install your school's app, select Install app. On an iPhone or iPad, the offer says how: tap the Share button, then Add to Home Screen. From then on, open the app from your home screen. Select Not now if you do not want it; the offer is not repeated.

  3. Use the bar at the bottom of the screen: Today, Classes, Marks and Timetable.

  4. Select More for every other page, and for Appearance (System, Light or Dark), Language (English or Français) and Sign out. Your name at the top of More opens your profile.

A dot on Marks or Today means you have entries on the phone that are not yet saved to the school's records. When a new version of the app is ready, a message says A new version is available. Select Reload when it suits you: entries not yet saved stay on the phone.

What More holds

Change your own name, phone or photo

  1. Select your picture or initials at the top right, then Profile. On a phone, select More, then your name at the top.

  2. Change your First name, Last name or Phone number, and select Save changes. The name is the one the app shows for you at this school.

  3. To add a photo, select Add a photo (or Change photo) and choose a JPEG, PNG or WebP image of up to 3 MB. Remove photo takes it off. If there is no photo button, photo uploads are not set up for your school.

Your email address and password are how you sign in, so they are not changed on this page. Under Email and password, Change password opens the page where you set a new one. To change the email address you sign in with, ask your school's administrator.

Your Today page

Today is your home in the app (on a computer the menu calls it Dashboard). It shows the date, greets you by name, and shows the current session and term.

  1. Find your class at the top. Your class lists the classes you are class teacher of, each with how many pupils are on the roll. If you are not class teacher of a class, it says Classes and shows the school's classes.

  2. Use the class's Register, Marks and Traits buttons to open its register, mark sheet and trait ratings straight away. Traits is shown to Class Teachers only.

  3. Check Today's lessons: on a school day it lists your class's published periods for the day, with their times. If none are published, it says No published timetable for today.

  4. If anything you entered is still only on your device, a panel at the top says how many entries are not yet saved to school records, and lists each register or sheet. Select one to open it, then select Save.

Look up a pupil

  1. Open Pupils under ACADEMIC. On a phone, select More, then Pupils.

  2. Type in Name, admission number or guardian phone…. It finds a pupil by either name, by admission number, or by a guardian's phone number or email.

  3. Narrow the list with Status, Session, Level, Class, Gender and New or returning, and order it with Sort by. On a phone the filters are behind the Filters button. Each filter that is on shows as a label above the list; select it to take it off. The filters stay in the page's address, so Back undoes the last one.

  4. Each pupil shows their photo, or their initials. Select a pupil to open their page (on a phone each pupil is a card; select the card).

A pupil's page shows their photo, large, their personal details, every guardian with a phone number to call, and their classes. Class and progress shows their attendance this term, with a link to the class register and to this term's report card. Fees appears only for roles that can see fees.

See your classes

  1. Open Classes under ACADEMIC, or the Classes tab on a phone.

  2. Classes are grouped by level, with how many classes and pupils each level has.

  3. Open a level to see its classes, each with how many pupils are enrolled against its capacity.

Open a level to see its classes

Check the timetable

  1. Open Timetable under ACADEMIC, or the Timetable tab on a phone.

  2. Choose a class from Select a class…. Its week is shown period by period: lessons, with their subject, and breaks.

A class's week

A Published badge beside the class means the school has published its week, so teachers, pupils and parents all see it. If nothing has been scheduled yet, the page says Nothing scheduled for this class yet. The timetable is built and published by the Principal or an administrator. Your own class's lessons for the day are also on your Today page.

Take the register

Class Teachers and Subject Teachers.

  1. Select Register on the class on your Today page. Or open Attendance under ACADEMIC (on a phone, More, then Attendance) and choose the class from Select class…. The Take the register tab opens first.

  2. The date is today; change it to mark an earlier day. The current term is shown beside it.

  3. Select Mark All Present, then change the pupils who are not present: Absent, Late, Excused or On Leave. On a phone each pupil is a card with a row of buttons. Select Add note to add a note for a pupil, once they have a status.

  4. Select Save. The register reaches the school's records only then (see Nothing is lost, and Save sends it below).

The page counts how many pupils are marked. Opening a class and day again shows what was saved, so you can correct a register the same way.

The register opens on today's date
Select Save

If the page says the school has no current term set, attendance cannot be recorded yet. Ask your school's administrator.

The overview

  1. Open Attendance and choose the Overview tab.

  2. Each class is a row and each school day over the last six weeks a cell, coloured by the share of pupils present, as the Legend explains.

  3. A pale cell means No register taken, which is not the same as nobody attending.

  4. Point at a cell to see the exact count.

Enter marks

Class Teachers and Subject Teachers.

  1. Select Marks on the class on your Today page. Or open Score Entry under ASSESSMENT, or the Marks tab on a phone.

  2. Choose the class and the subject. The tabs across the top are the mark columns the school has set for that class this term, such as a test and the exam, each with its maximum mark.

  3. Enter the marks:

    • On a computer, select a column and type each pupil's mark. Press Enter or Tab to move to the next pupil.

    • On a phone, each pupil is a card with every column in one row and their total. Swipe a row to reach later columns. The page counts how many pupils are done.

    • The table also shows each pupil's total for the subject across every column. At a school that marks out of 20, the total is shown out of 20 (for example 11.75/20) with the marks entered beneath it (47/80), which is what the report card will say.

  4. Select Save. Each column keeps its own marks on your device, so you can move between columns, subjects and classes and save each when you are ready.

Always enter a mark out of its column's maximum, even at a school that marks out of 20: the conversion to /20 is done for you.

A mark above the column's maximum is shown in red and stays unsaved until it is corrected; the other marks are saved. A mark cannot be deleted once saved; enter the correct mark instead.

Choose the subject
Select Save to send the marks

If the page says no assessment columns are set up, the school's leadership sets them under CA Config.

Rate behaviour and skills

Class Teachers.

  1. Select Traits on the class on your Today page. Or open Trait Scores under ASSESSMENT (on a phone, More, then Trait Scores).

  2. Choose Affective (behaviour, such as punctuality and honesty) or Psychomotor (skills, such as handwriting and sports), then the class.

  3. Choose a rating from A – Always to E – Never for each pupil and trait.

  4. Do the same for the other group of traits.

  5. Select Save.

The ratings appear on each pupil's report card. If the page says the school has not set up any traits yet, select Add the standard ten traits.

Nothing is lost, and Save sends it

Everything you enter on the register, in Score Entry and in Trait Scores is kept on your device the moment you enter it, whether or not you have a connection. It reaches the school's records only when you select Save.

  1. Keep entering: rows and boxes not yet saved are marked Not saved yet, and a bar at the bottom of the screen says how many entries are not yet saved to school records, with a Save now button.

  2. With no connection, keep going: the top bar says you are offline, and Save tells you your entries are safe on this device.

  3. When you are back online, select Save again. After a save that took everything, the bar says All saved to school records.

  4. If somebody else changed the same entry in the school's records after you made yours, the row shows both. Choose Keep mine or Use the school’s, then Save.

  5. If you sign out with entries not yet saved, you are asked first. Stay and save takes you back; Keep them and sign out leaves them on this device for your account; Discard them and sign out throws them away.

Your Today page, and on a computer the top bar, list every class and sheet with entries not yet saved, so you can find them later.

Check your class's results

Class Teachers only.

  1. Open Results under ASSESSMENT (on a phone, More, then Results). It opens on the current session and term.

  2. Each class card shows its status (Pending, Computed or Published), how many pupils have been computed, and the Class Average, Highest and Lowest (out of 20 at a school that marks out of 20).

  3. Select View report cards to see each pupil with their average and position. A card marked Draft has not been published to the pupil and their parents yet.

  4. Open a pupil to read the full report card, as it will print. On a phone the report card is laid out for the small screen.

  5. Select Print or Download PDF to check it on paper; they still give the full page on a phone.

Results by class

Results are computed and published by the school's leadership. Pupils and parents see a result only after it is published.

Share work in the LMS

  1. Open LMS under OPERATIONS (on a phone, More, then LMS) and choose a class and a subject. Items already shared are listed, with Draft on those pupils cannot see yet.

  2. Select Add Content, give it a title, choose whether it is a document, video, link or quiz, add a link or notes, and select Save.

  3. To attach a file, select Choose a file before Save: a PDF, a Word, Excel or PowerPoint file, or a JPEG, PNG or WebP image, of up to 20 MB. Edit lets you choose another file or Remove file.

  4. Select Publish when it is ready, Edit to change it, or Delete to remove it.

A published item appears on the Lessons page of every pupil in that class, and a pupil can open its link and its file there. A draft is seen by staff only.

An item with a file shows the file's name: select it to open the file. Staff who can see course content can open it, and so can the pupils of the class once the item is published. The link it opens works for a few minutes, so open it from the LMS page each time rather than saving or sharing the address.

Choose the class and the subject
Select Save: the new item is a draft
Attach a file, on a phone

Set and mark assignments

  1. Open Assignments under OPERATIONS (on a phone, More, then Assignments) and choose a class and a subject.

  2. Select New assignment, give it a Title, Instructions, the Marks it is out of and a Due date, and select Create. It is saved as a Draft: pupils do not see it yet.

  3. Select Publish to pupils. The assignment appears on the Assignments page of every pupil in the class, and their parents can follow it too. Unpublish takes it back to a draft.

  4. Select an assignment to see what has been handed in: each answer shows the pupil's name, when it was handed in, and (late) if that was after the due date.

  5. Select Grade, enter a Score (no more than the assignment's marks) and optional Feedback, and select Save.

A pupil can change their answer until you grade it; after that it stays as it is. The pupil and their parents see the score and your feedback on the assignment.

Set a test

Tests are papers your pupils sit on a computer or a phone. You can set them on the web or in the mobile app; both show the same tests.

  1. Open Tests under OPERATIONS (on a phone, More, then Tests) and choose a class and a subject. Each test shows when it opens, its length, its marks and where it stands: Draft, Published (not open yet), Open now or Closed.

  2. Select New test. Give it a Title, any Instructions for pupils, its length in Minutes, and when it Opens and Closes.

  3. To give each pupil the test in an order of their own, tick Give each pupil the questions in a different order, and Shuffle each question’s choices to mix the answers of each multiple-choice question too.

  4. Under Questions, write each question and choose Multiple choice or Written answer. For multiple choice, write at least two answers and tick the right one. Give it its Marks and select Add question. Total marks is the questions' marks added up unless you type another figure.

  5. Select Save as draft. The test opens, still a draft: pupils cannot see it. You can add more questions to a draft here.

A question, on a phone

Publish a test

  1. Open Tests, choose the class and subject, and open the draft test.

  2. Check the times, the length and the questions first: once published, a test cannot be taken back, and its questions cannot be changed.

  3. Select Publish and confirm.

  4. Its status is now Published. It appears straight away on the Tests page of every pupil in the class, shows Open now at its opening time, and closes by itself at its closing time.

Each pupil has the test's length from when they select Start, but no later than its closing time. Their answers are saved as they write, so a pupil whose page reloads, who changes device or who loses the connection carries on from what was saved. When a pupil's time runs out, the test is handed in for them with the answers that were saved.

Multiple-choice answers are marked automatically, and a question left blank scores 0. You mark written answers yourself, in the mobile app.

Publish, on a phone

Follow a test and its scripts

The order and the scripts are on the Tests page of the web app.

  1. Open Tests, choose the class and subject, and open the test.

  2. Under Order, switch Give each pupil the questions in a different order and Shuffle each question’s choices on or off. You can do this before or after publishing. A change applies to pupils who open the test from then on: a pupil already writing, or coming back to the test, keeps the order they were given.

  3. Once the test is published, Scripts lists every pupil who has opened it, with where their script stands: Writing, Handed in, or Handed in automatically when time ran out. Each shows the score once it is marked, and when it was handed in.

  4. Select Sitting log beside a pupil to see each step of their sitting, with its time: Opened the test, Came back to the test, Answers saved with how many questions were answered, and Handed in or Handed in automatically when time ran out.

Put a test's marks on the marks sheet

A test can count as one of the class's mark columns, such as a CA or the exam. Its marks then go into that column on Score Entry when you release them, so you do not type them in. This is on the Tests page of the web app.

  1. Open Tests, choose the class and subject, and open the test.

  2. Under Marks sheet, choose what it Counts as: one of the columns the school has set for the class's level this term, or Nothing (practice only). Only one test on a course can count as each column.

  3. Once the test is published and every written answer is marked, select Release scores and confirm. Each pupil's marked score is written into the column, scaled to the column's maximum mark. A pupil who did not hand the test in is left blank, not given 0, so you can see who still needs a mark.

  4. If a pupil already has a mark typed into that column, you are asked first: Replace them puts the test's score in its place, and Not yet leaves everything as it was.

Release waits until it is safe: it is refused while any script still has written answers to mark, or while a pupil is still writing before the closing time. The message says how many are left.

Once released, the page says when, and Counts as can no longer be changed. If you mark a script again afterwards, select Release scores again to update the marks sheet. A column the school has locked cannot be released into.

If the page says no CAs or exam are set up, the school's leadership sets them under CA Config.

Keep a question bank

The question bank holds questions you write once and use again on tests, term after term. Each question is filed under a subject and a class level, so every class of that level can use it.

  1. Open Question bank under OPERATIONS (on a phone, More, then Question bank) and choose a class and a subject. The page shows the bank's questions for that subject at the class's level.

  2. Select New question.

  3. Write the Question. Under Answer, choose Multiple choice or Written answer.

    • For multiple choice, write at least two answers and tick the right one. Each answer needs different words.

    • For a written answer, write a Model answer if you like. It is for whoever marks it; pupils never see it.

  4. Give it a Topic, so it can be found again (the topics already used are offered as you type), its Marks, and its Difficulty: Easy, Medium or Hard.

  5. If it comes from a past paper, choose its Source and type the Year. The sources offered are your country's exams; Our own is for questions written at the school.

  6. Select Add to bank.

To change a question, select the pencil beside it, change it and select Save. Its kind of answer cannot be changed once it is in the bank.

To take a question out of use, select Archive beside it and confirm. It leaves the bank and cannot go on a new test, but tests that already use it keep it. Questions are archived, never deleted, so a past test always reads as it was set.

Teachers who can enter marks can write in the bank. A teacher who can only read it sees the questions without the buttons to change them.

Maths and pictures in a question

  1. While writing a question, select a key in the row of Maths symbols under it to type that symbol where your cursor is: fractions such as ½, powers such as ², roots, π, ×, ÷, ≤, ≥, angles and more. They work in the question, in each answer and in the model answer, and they print on the paper.

  2. To add a picture to the question, select Add a picture under Picture for the question and choose a photo or a drawing (JPEG, PNG or WebP). A large photo is made smaller before it is sent.

  3. Each multiple-choice answer can have a picture of its own too: select the picture button at the end of the answer's line. Write a word or a letter beside each answer that has a picture, as the answers are told apart by their words.

  4. To take a picture off, select the cross on it.

Pictures show on the bank, on the test pupils sit and on the printed paper. Only people signed in to the school can open them.

Find a question in the bank

Above the list, narrow it down by Topic, Difficulty and kind of Answer, or type words into Search questions.

Under each question you see its topic, difficulty, kind of answer, source and marks. Once it has been used, you also see how many papers it has been on and, when pupils' answers to it have been marked, what share of its marks they got.

When at least ten pupils' answers to a question have been marked, the bank checks whether the pupils who did well on the whole test also did well on that question. If they did no better than the others, the question shows a red note: Strong and weak pupils do about the same on this. It may be unclear, or easy to guess. If weaker pupils did better, it says Weaker pupils do better on this than stronger ones. Check the answer key. Tick Only questions to check to see just those questions.

Keep questions in your own bank

A question can be kept in your own bank instead of the school's. Only you see it, change it and put it on a test, until you share it.

  1. When you write a question, tick Keep in my own bank. When you import a spreadsheet, tick Import into my own bank.

  2. Your own questions are marked In your own bank. Only you can see it. Use the Bank list above the questions to see School bank, My own bank or School bank and mine.

  3. To share one, select Share with the school under it and confirm. Every teacher of the subject can then see it, use it and change it. You can take a question you wrote back into your own bank by editing it and ticking Keep in my own bank again.

Only the teacher who wrote a question can move it between banks. Tests made from your own questions are seen by the school like any other test.

Make a test from the bank

  1. Open Question bank and choose the class and subject the test is for.

  2. Tick the questions you want. A bar at the bottom counts the questions chosen and their marks; Clear unticks them all.

  3. Select Make practice test. Give it a Title, any Instructions for pupils, its length in Minutes, and when it Opens and Closes.

  4. To make it count, choose a CA or the exam under Counts as (see Put a test's marks on the marks sheet). Leave it on Practice only for a test that counts for nothing.

  5. Select Save as draft. The test is saved on Tests as a draft, with Open Tests to go there. Pupils cannot see it until you publish it from Tests.

The test keeps its own copy of each question, so changing a question in the bank later does not change a test already made.

A question on a test that counts, and has not closed yet, is kept secret: it shows On the test's name until its closing time, and it cannot go on a practice test until then, so pupils cannot see it early. You can still put it on another test that counts. After the test closes, the question is free for revision.

Pick questions from a blueprint

Instead of ticking questions one by one, say what the test should hold and let the bank choose.

  1. Open Question bank, choose the class and subject, and select From a blueprint.

  2. For Part 1, give the number of Questions (1 to 100) and, if you like, the kind of Answer, the Difficulty and the Topics to draw from. No topic ticked means any topic.

  3. Select Add a part for another part, for example ten easy multiple-choice questions and then two hard written ones. Remove a part with the bin beside it.

  4. Select Pick with the number of questions, for example Pick 12 questions. The bank picks questions that fit, at random, and ticks them for you. If a part cannot be filled, the page says how many fitted.

  5. Look the questions over, untick or tick any you like, then select Make practice test as above.

Import and export questions

Questions can come from a spreadsheet, and go back out to one.

  1. Open Question bank and choose the class and subject. Imported questions go into that subject at the class's level.

  2. Select Import, then Download the template to get a file with the right columns and an example of each kind of question.

  3. Fill in one question per row: the question, its type (multiple choice or written), up to six answers, the letter of the right answer, a model answer for a written one, and its marks, topic, difficulty, source and year. Save it as CSV or Excel.

  4. Choose the file under Spreadsheet. Every row is checked first, and the page says how many questions are ready to import, how many are already in the bank (these are skipped) and which rows need fixing, with the reason for each.

  5. If any row needs fixing, fix it in the file and choose the file again. Nothing is added unless every row can be.

  6. Select Import with the number of questions, for example Import 40 questions.

Export downloads every question of that subject and level as a spreadsheet with the same columns, so an exported file can be imported again unchanged.

For a test sat on paper, you can print it on the school's letterhead.

  1. Open Question bank and choose the subject. Papers lists the tests made from the bank, with their marks and the date each was made.

  2. Select Print paper to download the question paper as a PDF, for the pupils. It carries no answers.

  3. Select Marking scheme for a separate PDF with the right answer to each multiple-choice question and the model answers, for whoever marks it.

The paper shows the school's logo, name, address and phone number, the subject, the class level and the time allowed.

Ask the AI Assistant

  1. Select the round button at the bottom right of any screen (above the tab bar on a phone). It opens the AI Assistant.

  2. Ask how to do something, in your own words: for example, how do I publish results?

  3. Read the answer and follow its steps in the app.

The assistant uses the school's AI credits.

See your payslips

  1. Open My Payslips under FINANCE (on a phone, More, then My Payslips). The page is headed My payslips.

  2. Each month shows your Net pay.

  3. Select Breakdown to see the basic pay, each allowance, each deduction and the total, and Hide breakdown to close it.

Your payslips

Payslips appear here once the school has run payroll for the month.

Your wallet, airtime and bills

Where your school offers bank wallets, FINANCE also shows My Wallet and Airtime & Bills. Anywhere else the two items are not in the menu.

  1. Open My Wallet under FINANCE (on a phone, More, then My Wallet).

  2. If you have no wallet yet, select Open a wallet, fill in the form (your Surname, BVN, Date of birth, Phone number and the rest) and select Open my wallet. The details go to the bank to open an account in your name; the school does not keep your BVN or national identity number.

  3. Your Account number appears when the bank has finished its checks. Until then, select Check again later: there is nothing to fill in a second time.

  4. Money in lists what the bank has paid into the wallet, and the statement lists every movement with the balance after each. If your salary is paid there and it differs from My Payslips, this is the record to quote.

To buy airtime or data, or to pay a bill from the wallet, open Airtime & Bills under FINANCE. Choose Airtime, Data or Bills, fill in the phone number or account, and confirm. What you have bought lists each purchase. For a prepaid meter the token is shown on the page: copy it and keep it, because it cannot be issued again.

Watch the help videos

  1. Open Help videos under HELP. On a phone it is under More.

  2. The videos for your role are in three groups: Start here, Every day and Now and then, each with its length.

  3. Select one to play it. Where there is a phone version and a computer version, you can switch between them. A line marked Coming soon is not recorded yet.

Tips and common questions

  • I cannot see a page a colleague has. Your role does not include it. Ask your school's administrator.

  • Why does a timetable say nothing is scheduled? No periods have been set up for that class yet.

  • Score Entry shows no columns for my class. The school has not set up the mark columns for that class level this term. Ask the Principal or an administrator.

  • A pupil is missing from the register. Only pupils enrolled in the class are listed. Ask the school office to enrol them.

  • I have no connection. A bar at the top of the screen says you are offline, and that registers, marks and trait ratings are kept on your device until you press Save. Keep entering the register, marks and ratings: they stay on your device, and Save sends them when you are back online. Open each class once while online, so its pupils are on the device.

  • Where are my payslips? Under My Payslips. You only ever see your own.

  • How do I change the language, or switch between light and dark? On a computer, use EN and FR and the sun or moon button at the top. On a phone, select More.

Getting help

Open the AI Assistant from the round button in the bottom-right corner of any screen (above the tab bar on a phone) and ask how to do something (see Ask the AI Assistant above). For anything to do with your account or access, ask your school's administrator.

To try any of this for yourself, open the live demo.
